A department-wide funding competition for PhD students will be announced in September; please check back for specific details, or check the departmental website. Examples of possible projects (these are currently available to self-funded students) include: 

 

• Converting food waste to value-added chemicals and fuels via black soldier fly larvae

• Plastic recycling and conversion through hydrothermal processing

• Conversion of captured CO2 under hydrothermal and solvothermal conditions

• Fischer-Tropsch synthesis as a sustainable process for fuel/chemical production

• Sustainable production of petrochemicals through the exploitation of coke in catalysis

University scholarships:

Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis - applications are assessed on academic merit. Calls typically open November and close January. Previous scholarships hace included:

University Postgraduate Research Committee (UPGRC) Scholarships 

○ Award can cover all or proportion of stipend/fees.

○ 3.5 year studentships 

Hossein Farmy Scholarships

○ Research related to mining (e.g. applications of mining waste in catalysis)
